MOU SIGNING WITH ASTRAZENECA INDONESIA

In the midst of the Indonesia Sustainability Forum, which is part of a series of ASEAN Summit activities this week, AstraZeneca Indonesia and PT Kimia Farma Tbk officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This MoU is a form of joint commitment and follow-up to the Sustainability Pledge supported by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia. It aims to encourage sustainable development of the health sector. It is a form of concrete action by the two companies to address the pressing challenges of climate change and biodiversity loss.

The MoU signing ceremony between AstraZeneca and Kimia Farma was witnessed by Lucia Rizka Andalucia, Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia. “The government and the private sector cannot work alone because climate change and biodiversity loss are global crises, and all parties need to work well together, just like when we faced the COVID-19 pandemic,” Rizka said.

Furthermore, Rizka added, “I hope that other organizations and companies in the health sector can emulate the steps taken today. I believe that a commitment to protecting biodiversity can create a healthy environment for our future generations on this earth.”

AstraZeneca and Kimia Farma signed this MoU as a concrete manifestation of supporting the Health Sustainability Pledge initiated at the Indonesia Sustainability Forum. “We appreciate the commitment of Kimia Farma, which has just signed the Sustainability Pledge for the sustainable transformation of the health sector, by joining AstraZeneca on the journey to zero carbon by signing two MoUs today,” said Se Whan Chon, President Director, AstraZeneca Indonesia at the AstraZeneca Thematic Session at the Indonesia Sustainability Forum 2023 in Jakarta, Thursday (7/9).

“Through this MoU, I appreciate AstraZeneca Indonesia and Kimia Farma’s goal to support healthcare practitioners with the knowledge they need to improve first-level healthcare services. The collaboration between the two parties is a reflection of the spirit of cooperation, innovation, and sustainability that is indispensable for the transformation of the health sector,” said David Utama, President Director of PT Kimia Farma Tbk.

Both parties are also jointly committed to taking big steps towards a healthier and more sustainable future for all Indonesians.
